During our Pride Period (1st Period), we are offering an 8 - Week Introduction to Programming and Writing Code for some 6th Grade Students. This enrichment program is intended to introduce our students to basic programming languages, vocabulary, and computational thinking.
Below are some of the resources we use in our Programming Enrichment Class. All of these resources are FREE and can be accessed by our students at home with an Internet Connection. |
Week 1 Students can login to the Code.org website with their school Google accounts. Enter the Classroom Code HBWPDT to join my class. Work your way through the course I have set up for you! Good luck and have fun!
Week 4 This week, students will begin working on the assigned programming lessons in Tynker. You can use your Google Account to sign up, and enter the code 54940594 to join my class. Complete each lesson in the order they are assigned. Week 7
Google CS First provides students with access and exposure to Computer Science. Students can pick from a variety of projects they want to create (High Seas Activity, Storytelling, Fashion Design, Art, Friends, Social Media, Sports, Music & Sound, Game Design) that all require basic computer programming skills.

Week 2
Students work on completing a few of the built in Scratch Tutorials of their choice. When you visit the Scratch website, click on CREATE to get started!
Week 5
Students start by working on the Coding Jetpack Jumper and Pixel Art Lessons. They can then complete any of the Featured, Beginner, Games or Social App Development Tutorials. Week 8
Code Academy offers an assortment of free Programming & Coding Activities in a variety of Programming Languages (HTML, CSS, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, and more!

Week 3
This week, students will use CodeMonkey. This is a fun site that teaches computer programming concepts. When students have completed the first 30 lessons, they can begin working in Lightbot, practicing programming basics, procedures, and loops.
Week 6
Code Combat teaches students about programming in Python, Java, and other programming languages. They can even battle other students online with their coding skills. Here is the link to our Join My Class Below:

- Click on Creative Learning 1.7.10.22, This is Minecraft EDU
- Click On MineCraftEDU and NOT just Minecraft.
